Over the past year, we have become increasingly aware that we are being called to serve the church as missionaries to Spain.

For centuries, this beautiful country was considered a christian nation with a very deep catholic heritage.  Unfortunately, the church was responsible for some horrific abuses throughout Spanish history.  These abuses, combined with a long history of religious conflict, have helped to infuse the culture with some intensely negative ideas and attitudes towards faith and christianity.  As a result, the vast majority of spaniards have no awareness of the gospel and no knowledge of who Jesus is.

Here are some statistics...

- The evangelical population is 0.76%

- In the south the percentage drops to 0.5%

- Only half of the believers in Spain are Spanish

- More than 500 cities do not have a church

- The percentage of christians in Spain is similar to many muslim nations around the world

The numbers of christians is so low that Spain is considered an unreached country.
